SECURE YOUR GEM OF A JOB

Let us help you make the right career move and find…Your Gem Of A Job!

We’re here to make sure your job search is stress free, time efficient, enjoyable and successful. So in this section, you’ll find rock solid advice to ensure you sparkle throughout the interview process. Click on the links below to reveal our top tips!

Top Tip: Applying For A Job

Ensure that you send the correct CV and covering letter for the relevant job.

Make sure you have spelt names and company details correctly. You’ll be surprised at the number of applications we receive to jobs we aren’t even recruiting, addressed to recruiting managers who don’t work at Rubyred Recruitment. First impressions count!

If you’re applying for a job online, remember to attach your CV, your relevant portfolio (if required), and pay attention to how you have labelled the document and the format in which it is saved.

Avoid making silly errors and always spell check before pressing send.

CV

A well written and well structured CV will ensure you promote yourself to your best advantage, set you apart from other applicants and help you to secure an interview. There’s no single way to construct a CV. It’s your document and can be structured and presented as you wish. However, presenting your information in a clear and logical way is important. The top tips and example format below are a great starting point.

Use no more than two pages. Aim to ensure the content in your CV is clear, structured, concise and relevant to the job you’re applying for.

Bullet point sentences rather than using full paragraphs to help minimise word usage.

Check your CV carefully for spelling and grammar. Any mistakes may cost you an interview.

Any gaps in your career history should be explained.

Salary details should not be included.

Have a confident and firm handshake – avoid the bone crusher or limp fish style!

Eye contact is essential, as is positive body language and good posture. Don’t let your nerves take over.

Answer all questions thoroughly. Be sure to make the interviewer aware of duties you have preformed and accomplishments you have made. Don’t be afraid to spell out the obvious and don’t assume the interview knows what your previous jobs involved.

Be positive about each job you have held and your reasons for moving on.

At the end of the interview be sure to reiterate your interest in the role and your availability to attend second interview.

Ask the interviewer what the next step is and when you are likely to hear back from them.

Thank the interviewer for their time with a firm handshake.

GOOD LUCK!
